GAZA CITY, Sept 27: Khaled Meshaal, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, has warned that Israeli actions and measures towards Al-Aqsa Mosque are “paving the way for total control and domination over the site”.
In a statement, he said these measures include the 40-day closure of the mosque, the “imposition of temporal division” to clear the site for incursions by “extremist Jewish groups” and efforts to “achieve spatial division” by emptying key facilities within the complex.
He said the mosque “stands at a crossroads” and called for measures to protect the compound, including a “strategy of resistance and jihad” to “rescue Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa”.
He urged Palestinians to travel to the mosque to maintain a “steadfast presence” there, and called on people across the Arab and Islamic world to rally in support of Palestine."AL JAZEERA
