PM to honour 100 distinguished teachers on Oct 5

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will honour 100 distinguished teachers with crests and recognition on October 5 as part of celebrations marking World Teachers’ Day, Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan and Education Adviser Mahdi Amin said on Monday.
They made the announcement while briefing journalists after a meeting of the national steering committee on World Teachers’ Day celebrations at the Secretariat.

Education Adviser Mahdi Amin said the number of teachers receiving the honour had been increased to 100 from 12 in previous years.
''Teachers are the architects of building the nation and its future,'' he said, adding that the government was working to improve their facilities and benefits.
