Five units of Jatrabari filling station shut for fuel shortage

The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has found that a municipal filling station in Jatrabari was providing up to 530ml less fuel per 10 litres.

Following the discovery, BSTI shut down five dispensing units at the station and fined it Tk 300,000 in five cases.

During a drive on Monday (September 28), officials found shortages of 530ml in an octane unit and 300–340ml in four diesel units per 10 litres. The shortages exceeded the permitted tolerance of 30ml.

The cases were filed under the Weights and Measures Standards Act, 2018. The five units were ordered to remain closed until their measurement systems are corrected.
