AIUB celebrates World Pharmacist Day 2026

The Department of Pharmacy at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has marked World Pharmacist Day 2026 with a colourful procession, discussion session, and cultural performance under the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.” 

The event highlighted pharmacists’ vital role in healthcare systems, medication safety, rational medicine use, and public health, according to a press release.

Ishtiaque Abedin, founder member and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, AIUB, delivered an inspiring address, stressing the need for competent, ethical, and visionary pharmacists ready for leadership roles. 

Vice Chancellor Prof Saiful Islam, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Md Abdur Rahman, and representatives from industry, academia, healthcare, and research also attended. Prof Md Siddiqul Islam, head of the Department of Pharmacy, opened the programme. 

Speakers including Tanbir Ashraf (Haleon Bangladesh), Mohammad Reazur Rahman (Incepta), Md Rafiqul Islam (ACI), Md Muksidul Haque (Popular Pharmaceuticals), Prof M Shahabuddin K Choudhuri, Dr KC Paul, Dr Sharmila Huda, Prof Abu Syed Md Mosaddek, and Dr Tuhin Jahan shared career insights and stressed competence, ethics, innovation, and collaboration. 

Crests were presented to guests by university leaders in recognition of their contributions. 

The celebration reaffirmed AIUB’s commitment to quality education, professional development, research, and collaboration in preparing skilled, ethical pharmacy graduates for national and global healthcare.
