Open proposals invited on caretaker Govt framework

No final decision has been made on how a caretaker government would be formed or who would be included, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, chairman of the special committee on constitutional reforms.

Speaking after the committee’s fourth meeting on Tuesday, he invited written proposals and constructive suggestions from civil society and other stakeholders on the system’s formation and structure. 

He said several options remain open under the July National Charter, with differences of opinion on some issues. The committee plans to consult political and social groups, constitutional experts, lawyers, academics, judges, affected families and representatives of the July uprising before preparing its final report.
