Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmad announced on Thursday (October 1) that the official notification for the remaining 46 candidates excluded from the 49th BCS (Special Education Cadre) gazette is likely to be issued next Monday (October 5).
Speaking at an emergency press conference, the Home Minister assured that no candidate would face discrimination based on political affiliation, emphasizing that standard police verification procedures are being routinely applied.
Referring to a recent social media threat by former Dhaka University student Md. Jasim Uddin to commit self-immolation over his initial exclusion, the minister advised candidates against spreading excitement or misinformation online. He noted that Jasim previously held a post as Joint General Secretary in a hall committee of a now-banned student organization, leading to premature assumptions about his status.
The Home Minister clarified that multiple gazette notifications can be issued prior to the October 12 joining date, as file approvals require executive clearance, including the President's signature. He added that public administration officials are working even on weekends to complete the administrative process.
While maintaining that political identity would not trigger exclusion, Minister Salahuddin highlighted that severe criminal charges or pending convictions remain legal grounds for withholding appointments under standard service rules.
Candidates facing grievances were advised to submit formal applications to the ministry for review rather than inciting instability.
