Four Bangladesh cricketers have secured places in the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 after the player draft for the tournament was completed in the UAE.
Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahedi Hasan, Habibur Rahman Sohan and Shamim Hossain were the four Bangladesh names selected for the competition, with all four joining United Tigers.
Nurul Hasan and Mahedi were picked from Category B. United Tigers selected Nurul in the seventh round before adding Mahedi in the following round.
The franchise continued its interest in Bangladesh players in the next category, taking Habibur Rahman Sohan in the ninth round. Shamim Hossain became the fourth Bangladesh recruit when United Tigers selected him in the 11th round from Category C.
No other Bangladesh player was chosen during the draft, leaving the quartet as the country's representatives in the tournament.
The selections come at an interesting time for Bangladesh cricket, as the T10 season overlaps with the national team's upcoming tour of the United Arab Emirates. Bangladesh are scheduled to play a one-off Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi before joining Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in a three-team ODI series.
Nurul Hasan's selection could therefore create a scheduling issue, as he is also included in Bangladesh's ODI setup for the UAE tour.
The Abu Dhabi T10 is scheduled to run from November 7 to 20 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. The competition will give the four Bangladesh players an opportunity to gain experience in another short-format tournament while playing alongside international cricketers.
