Islami Andolan Bangladesh Amir Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, popularly known as Charmonai Pir, has urged the government to involve Islamic scholars in state administration and reconstruction, warning that excluding Ulama from state affairs and politics can produce adverse consequences.

“A stark historical truth of this region is that Islamic scholars play a pioneering role in every major political shift. Yet, subsequently, they are excluded from the process of state reconstruction. Consequently, the very expectations for which people sacrificed their lives and blood to bring about change remain unfulfilled,” he remarked.

He made the remarks on Thursday while addressing the National Ulama Summit organised by the National Ulama-Mashayekh-Aimma Council at the Krishibid Institution Auditorium in Farmgate, Dhaka.

Charmonai Pir called on the government to ensure the participation of Islamic scholars in rebuilding the state following the July Mass Uprising.
