Dhaka divided into 8 zones for auto-rickshaws

Dhaka North and South city corporations will be divided into eight zones, with auto-rickshaws and e-bikes assigned different colours for each zone to bring discipline to their movement, said DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan.

He made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists after inspecting the Government Unani and Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital in Mirpur-13 around 11AM on Thursday (October 8).

The administrator said four zones will be under Dhaka North City Corporation and four under Dhaka South City Corporation. Separate colours will be assigned to auto-rickshaws operating in each zone, preventing vehicles registered in one zone from operating in another.

He said the authorities are preparing the necessary rules and guidelines for the system. The number of auto-rickshaws allowed in each zone will also be determined based on local demand, and no new registration will be allowed once the designated limit is reached.
