India's Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved a proposal to rename Noida International Airport after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Friday.
The airport, also known as Jewar Airport, will be named Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar, according to Adityanath, who said the decision was approved by the state cabinet.
Located in Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, the airport is expected to become Uttar Pradesh's largest and a major aviation hub serving the National Capital Region.
Adityanath thanked Modi for the project, describing the airport as a significant contribution to the state.
