Ctg restaurant owners give Foodpanda seven-day ultimatum

Restaurant owners in Chattogram have given online food delivery platform Foodpanda seven days to meet their six-point demands, warning that restaurants across the city will stop accepting orders through the platform if their demands are not met.

The demands were announced at a press conference organised by the Chattogram metropolitan branch of the Bangladesh Restaurant Owners Association at Barkat Food Station in Muradpur at 11:00 AM on Saturday.

Restaurant owners alleged that Foodpanda was making unjustified deductions under various categories, imposing additional charges and failing to ensure transparency in financial accounts. They said these practices were increasing operating costs and reducing profit margins. They also expressed dissatisfaction with compensation arrangements for cancelled orders.

The owners said online food delivery platforms had created opportunities to reach customers, but Foodpanda's unilateral business policies were putting financial pressure on restaurant operators. They claimed that repeated complaints had failed to bring effective action.

The restaurant owners called for a review of the commission structure, an end to unjustified charges, greater transparency in financial accounts and fair compensation for cancelled orders.

They urged Foodpanda to implement all six demands within seven days, warning that restaurants in Chattogram metropolitan area would jointly suspend or stop accepting orders through the platform if the deadline was not met.
