
Rainfall may increase in southern and eastern parts of Bangladesh from the middle of next week, with moderate to heavy showers and a slight drop in temperatures expected under the influence of a possible low-pressure system over the southeast Bay of Bengal around October 13.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department forecast that Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions could experience moderate to heavy rainfall, while some areas of Dhaka and Sylhet divisions may also receive showers.
According to the forecast issued by meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque on Saturday, scattered light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur in parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Chattogram divisions by 6PM on Sunday.
During the following 24 hours from 6PM on Sunday, scattered light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur in a few places in Chattogram division. Weather elsewhere is expected to remain mainly dry, with temporarily partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.
From 6PM on Monday, some places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds.
The rainfall is expected to spread further on Tuesday, when many places in Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and a few places in Dhaka and Sylhet divisions may receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Some areas of Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions may experience moderate to heavy rainfall, while day and night temperatures may fall slightly nationwide.
A similar rainfall pattern may continue on Wednesday, with moderate to heavy showers possible in some areas of the three southern and eastern divisions. Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged across the country.
The weather agency said rainfall activity may decrease towards the middle of the following five-day period.
