Bangladesh batter Towhid Hridoy struck a historic unbeaten double century to guide Bangladesh to a 30-run first-innings lead against the West Indies in the second Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday (November 7).
Hridoy scored an unbeaten 242 off 359 balls as Bangladesh posted 386 in their first innings, surpassing the West Indies' total of 356.
The 24-year-old became only the fourth Bangladeshi batter to score a double century in Test cricket, joining Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan. His knock also surpassed Mushfiqur's 219 to become Bangladesh's highest individual Test score.
Hridoy played a remarkable innings under pressure, arriving at the crease when Bangladesh were struggling at 22 for two. He held the innings together despite regular wickets falling at the other end.
West Indies began their second innings on the third day and were 0 for no loss after 0.3 overs, trailing Bangladesh by 30 runs.
