At least eight people were killed in a shooting in the US state of Pennsylvania, and the suspected gunman also died in the incident. Police believe the gunman shot himself.
The shooting took place in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Saturday (October 10). Authorities have yet to release further details about the incident.
Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah told local media that he had never witnessed anything like it in his more than 28 years of service. He said he doubted the city had ever experienced such a devastating loss of life and destruction before.
Following the shooting, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said in a statement that he had assured Erie Mayor Daria Devlin of his administration's full support.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. Local police were also unable to immediately identify the victims.
