Several crude bombs exploded in front of the district and sessions judge’s residence beside Shakuni Lake in Madaripur town on Tuesday morning (October 13).

A rally of the National Citizen Party (NCP) is scheduled for 4 PM today at the open stage in front of the judge’s residence. NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam, Hasnat Abdullah and other senior party leaders are expected to attend.

The blasts have raised concerns in the area ahead of the rally. It is suspected that the explosions were intended to create panic surrounding the gathering, though the motive has not been confirmed.

Madaripur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad said police had visited the scene and deployed personnel at the rally venue. No one had been detained in connection with the incident so far, he added.
