Bangladesh star Litton Das answered his recent critics in style by setting a historic world record in Test cricket through outstanding performances with both bat and gloves against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.

Litton became the first wicketkeeper-batter in Test history to score two fifty-plus innings while effecting nine dismissals behind the stumps in a single match.

On the fourth day of the ongoing Test, Litton completed eight dismissals behind the wickets, eclipsing the long-standing Bangladesh record previously held by Khaled Mashud Pilot. The former captain had registered seven dismissals against Zimbabwe in Harare back in 2004.

Litton expanded his tally to nine dismissals while remaining equally effective with the bat, scoring fifties in both innings to achieve this unique double.

While Jack Russell of England, AB de Villiers of South Africa, and Rishabh Pant of India share the overall world record for most dismissals in a single Test with 11 each, none of them managed to score two half-centuries in the same match.
