State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salahuddin Tuku has warned that no one involved in irregularities in distributing family cards will be spared and action will be taken against them.
“Everyone will receive a family card in phases. Please inform us if anyone attempts irregularities in the distribution,” he said.
He made the remarks on Wednesday (October 14) while inaugurating a field-level data collection programme for family card implementation at the Tangail Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium.
Tuku said appointed workers would collect information by visiting households. Beneficiaries would be selected after data collection and verification, so people would not need to run around or seek recommendations.
He said the government was working to fulfil its election pledges, including distributing family cards, introducing farmers’ cards and providing allowances for imams, muezzins and temple priests.
The minister also said law enforcement agencies would remain alert to ensure security at Durga Puja venues and prevent any untoward incidents.
District and local BNP leaders and government officials attended the programme.
Later, Tuku distributed rice allocation documents and financial assistance for Durga Puja celebrations at different venues in Tangail.
