All four people injured in a gas explosion in a residential room in Narayanganj’s Kanchpur have died, after the last victim, a 19-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries at a Dhaka burn institute on Friday morning, five days after the incident.
The victim, identified only as Ronny, died while undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, where all four victims had been admitted following the October 9 explosion. The blast occurred around 1:30am after a gas leak reportedly triggered an explosion inside the room, leaving four people with critical burn injuries.
The victims were identified as Sharif, 34, his wife Rozina, 30, her brother Riaz, 22, and their neighbour Ronny.
Resident physician Sultan Mahmud Shikder said doctors made every effort to save the patients, but the severity of their burns and damage to their airways proved fatal.
