Rashed Khan political assistant to the prime minister has claimed that Dr Khaliduzzaman, Jamaat-e-Islami’s candidate for Dhaka-17 in the last parliamentary election, did not take to the streets even for 16 seconds during the 16 years of what he described as fascist rule.
He made the remarks in a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday (October 16).
In the post, Rashed called Khaliduzzaman a “fraud doctor” and alleged that he had never posted anything on Facebook against Sheikh Hasina. He accused Khaliduzzaman of frequently publishing posts that negatively questioned their struggle and sacrifices.
“How can someone who has to introduce himself as a rival of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman in his constituency belittle the sacrifices of others?” Rashed asked.
He further described Khaliduzzaman as a “shameless newcomer to the politics of collaborators” and a coward, alleging that his Facebook page was created on August 25, 2024, after Sheikh Hasina fled the country.
Rashed claimed that people like Khaliduzzaman had portrayed themselves as revolutionaries only after Hasina’s departure. He also alleged that they might change their appearance or flee to Pakistan if Hasina returned to power.
Referring to what he described as opportunistic politics, Rashed alleged that such people had supported the Awami League during Hasina’s 16-year rule and had now returned in the guise of Jamaat-Shibir activists.
He called for their removal from the country, describing them as a source of political pollution following the mass uprising.
Rashed also questioned Khaliduzzaman’s conduct, saying that a genuine doctor could not speak or behave like him, and described him as a person with a “completely distorted mindset”.
