FIFA President Gianni Infantino arrived in Dhaka on Sunday (October 18) for a brief transit stop en route to Bhutan.
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) witnessed hectic preparations yesterday ahead of the FIFA chief's arrival, although uncertainty surrounded his visit until the last moment. However, Infantino has finally landed in the capital.
His stay in Dhaka will be brief. He arrived at 12:45 PM and is scheduled to board a flight to Bhutan after a stopover of around two hours.
Upon arriving at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at noon, the FIFA president stayed at the VIP Lounge, where BFF President Tabith Awal and other vice-presidents met him.
Infantino traveled to Dhaka from Morocco, with his final destination being Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Since there are no direct flights between Morocco and Thimphu, he made a layover in Dhaka.
The FIFA chief previously made an official full-scale visit to Dhaka in October 2019, when he visited the BFF headquarters.
