MPO teachers can contest local polls: Minister

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman stated that no legal barrier prevents MPO-enlisted teachers from participating in local government elections.

He made the statement on Monday (October 19) morning following the inauguration of the new Primary Teachers' Training Institute building in Jhenaidah.

The law minister noted that MPO-enlisted teachers will be able to contest local government elections in the same manner they did previously. Expressing optimism about conducting fair and peaceful local government polls, he urged the public to maintain confidence in the government.

Earlier in the morning, the law minister attended a meeting of the 250-bed Jhenaidah General Hospital Management Committee as the chief guest. Representatives from the district administration, police, health department, and local BNP leaders were present at the event.
