Content creator Ashraful Hossain, popularly known as Hero Alom, has filed a complaint against his former wife, Mosammat Sathi Khatun and two others over alleged extortion, fraud, embezzlement and death threats.
He filed the complaint with Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed on Monday. The court recorded his statement and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the allegations and submit a report, said his lawyer, Shanta Saksina.
The other accused are Hero Alom’s associates Ahsan Habib Selim and Md Mahidul Islam.
According to the complaint, Sathi approached Hero Alom seeking an opportunity to work in his music videos. He later gave her money for household expenses and clothing.
The complaint alleges that Sathi demanded an additional Tk 2 lakh for music video shoots and makeup after Hero Alom travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah on August 22. It also states that he gave her Tk 5 lakh on August 17, which she later acknowledged on social media.
After divorcing Sathi on September 29, Hero Alom allegedly faced a Tk 15 lakh extortion demand from the three accused. They also allegedly abused him and his family on social media and threatened to kill him.
Hero Alom filed a general diary with Hatirjheel Police Station on October 16. The complaint further alleges that the accused threatened on social media on October 12 to consume poison publicly at his birthday celebration and send him to jail.
