800 L of stolen diesel seized in Amin Bazar

The driver, Al-Amin, 34, was arrested along with the truck near Salehpur Bridge on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway on Thursday night, October 22.

Police said the truck was carrying 40 containers filled with 800 litres of diesel used for excavators at the landfill.

During a routine search, police stopped the truck heading towards Dhaka and seized the fuel and vehicle.

According to Zakir Al Ahsan, in-charge of the Amin Bazar Police Camp under Savar Model Police Station, the driver admitted during preliminary questioning that he was taking the fuel from the landfill to a group involved in the illegal fuel trade in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.

Legal action in this regard is underway, the police official said.
