Renewed war won’t change Iran’s position: Araghchi

Nothing in the region will be the same again, he says

TEHRAN, Oct 25: Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that a potential resumption of war with Israel and the United States would not change his country's positions.

"Recently, there has been talk of a new war, but I am already thinking about the post-war period. Whether there is war or not, our policies remain the same," said Araghchi during a televised event in Tehran.

"They have already done so twice and have seen the results. If they want to try again, they know they will achieve no different outcome from those of the past."

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has spoken at his ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies in Tehran. Here are some highlights from the speech:

Iran maintains the belief that the Middle East should enjoy peace and stability fostered by the regional states themselves without external interference.

The conflicts of the past year and a half represent a turning point. “Nothing will be the same as it was before.”

US military bases in the Middle East have failed to bring peace or security to anyone. On the contrary, they have been the source of insecurity.

Iran fundamentally welcomes any initiative that fosters self-reliance among the nations of the region. It has become evident that Israel is the sole instigator of warmongering in the region. It has consistently prevented the establishment of peace and stability while perpetually seeking to incite conflict and weaken countries.

For the sake of its own peace and stability, the region must move towards the elimination of the presence of foreign forces.

Neither Iran nor Oman has ever obstructed passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Rather, they have ensured security and safety while safeguarding the environment. The management of the Strait of Hormuz will not remain as it was in the past." Agencies
