State Minister for Railways and Road Transport and Highways Habibur Rashid Habib has said immediate action is being taken whenever complaints are received over railway ticketing irregularities.

He made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists at Feni Railway Station around 2:30 AM on Tuesday. The minister travelled from Dhaka to Feni aboard the Mohanagar Express on its first day of operation on the extended route to Cox’s Bazar.

“Whenever we receive complaints about corruption or ticket-related irregularities in the railway sector, we take immediate action. As tickets are now sold online, we promptly address any complaints regarding railway tickets,” Habib said.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to improving railway services, he said Prime Minister wants to bring railway services to people’s doorsteps.

“We are working through the ministry to ensure continuous development of the railway sector and improve services,” he said, adding that the government was also committed to the development of Feni.

The minister said Feni-1 MP Rafiqul Alam Majnu had requested a stoppage for the Mohanagar Express in Feni and the highest possible seat allocation for the district when plans for the train service were being considered.

“Today, the Prime Minister has fulfilled his demand,” he said, adding that the people of Feni would continue to have a stake in railway development.

Habib also said, the railway sector had previously faced shortages of locomotives and maintenance facilities. The government had made progress in addressing shortages of metre-gauge locomotives, and further efforts were underway to expand capacity.

Addressing the people of Feni, the minister said the service had only just begun and that increased passenger demand would strengthen the case for expanding railway facilities and seat capacity in the area.

“If you travel more by train to Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram by purchasing tickets, we will stand by you in increasing railway facilities and seat capacity in this area,” he said.

The train arrived at Feni Railway Station at 1:55 AM. Before its departure from Feni, Habib welcomed passengers with flowers and exchanged greetings with them. Feni-1 MP Rafiqul Alam Majnu and senior railway officials were also present.
