Bosiram Siram, president of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee and former state minister, has alleged that Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops have intruded nearly 50 kilometers inside Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh, a claim firmly denied by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, The Times of India reported.

Speaking on Monday (October 26), Siram stated that PLA soldiers have occupied various positions within the Upper Subansiri district of the border state. Calling for a neutral and comprehensive investigation to verify the ground situation, he detailed findings from a Congress delegation visit led by him from August 26 to 29, which traveled from Itanagar through Nacho to the border areas of Limeking and Taksing.

Siram claimed that Chinese forces have advanced 40 to 50 kilometers inside Indian land and established positions on strategic high-altitude terrain. Pointing out that local residents observed Chinese soldiers occupying mountain peaks while Indian forces remained at lower elevations, he questioned why locals would repeatedly raise intrusion concerns if no such activity was taking place on the ground.

However, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu dismissed the claims, maintaining that he does not believe any Chinese intrusion has occurred along the border. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju also rejected the 50-kilometer intrusion assertion, though he acknowledged increased Chinese activity along high-altitude border stretches.

The latest dispute follows similar allegations raised in June by a local organization, the Nah Welfare Society, regarding heightened Chinese military presence near Taksing, which the Indian Army dismissed as false and baseless. Additionally, in August, a delegation from the People's Party of Arunachal alleged that Indian patrol units were being restricted from accessing several key areas.

Siram further claimed that strategically sensitive zones such as Asaphela have come under Chinese control and alleged that certain border pockets have disappeared from online mapping platforms, though independent verification of these claims remains unconfirmed.
