Walt Disney Co. is laying off between 100 and 200 employees in its theme parks division as part of an ongoing review of business priorities, investments and project timelines, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The job cuts affect Disney’s Experiences division, which includes its theme parks, cruise line and Aulani resort in Hawaii. All affected employees were expected to be notified by the end of Wednesday (October 28), according to a person familiar with the matter.
Disney declined to comment on the layoffs.
The Experiences division generated $36.2 billion in revenue in fiscal 2025 and accounted for more than 56 per cent of the company’s total operating income, making it a key contributor to Disney’s financial performance.
The latest cuts are separate from earlier layoffs affecting Disney’s human resources and technology teams. The company also offered early retirement packages to older employees earlier this month.
The restructuring comes as new Chief Executive Josh D’Amaro seeks to sharpen the company’s focus and improve its response to changes in the entertainment industry.
Other Hollywood companies are also reducing costs. Employees at Skydance, the newly combined Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery business, are bracing for job cuts as the company targets $6 billion in cost reductions over three years.
