CHATMOHAR, PABNA: Jahangir Hossain Zakir, 32, a sub-assistant agriculture officer at the agriculture office in Chatmohar Upazila of the district, was killed in a head-on collision with a truck on Wednesday.

Kuntala Ghosh, Chatmohar Upazila Agriculture Officer, said Zakir was returning home on his motorcycle after completing his duties in Handial Union when the accident occurred around 5 pm at Mannannagar on the highway. He died on the spot.

GOPALGANJ: A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Wednesday morning after a passenger bus hit his motorcycle in Kashiani Upazila of the district.

The crash occurred around 9 am near Milton Bazar in Fukra Union on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway, said Fazlu Mia, Sub-Inspector of Bhatiapara Highway Police Station.

A passenger bus operated by Dola Paribahan, travelling from Dhaka to Khulna, hit the motorcycle coming from the opposite direction, killing the rider, Hamim Mallick, on the spot, Fazlu Mia said.

Mallick was the son of Ilias Mallick, a resident of Chandradighalia in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila.

Fire service personnel and highway police recovered the body and took the necessary legal steps. Further legal proceedings are underway.

LALMOHAN, BHOLA: A 73-year-old man was killed in a suspected hit-and-run on the Bhola-Char Fasson regional highway in Lalmohan Upazila of the district on Tuesday night.

The victim, Md Mozammel Munsi, was found lying in front of a roadside sanitary shop near Minar Mosque in Farazganj Union’s Ward No. 6. Local tea stall owner Mamun informed police and the victim’s family. Police recovered the body and sent it for autopsy to determine the cause of death.
