Real-life story of Dar-e-Nijaat’s Abu Bakr

Pakistani television serial 'Dar-e-Nijaat' has sparked widespread discussions, particularly over the character of Abu Bakr, whom many female viewers consider an ideal husband.

Played by Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui, Abu Bakr's extreme goodness, patience, and respectful demeanor have drawn both deep admiration and critical analysis. While writer Umera Ahmed questioned why basic human virtues like compassion are viewed as unrealistic nowadays, actress Nadia Afghan defended the character, noting her own husband shares similar traits.

However, behind the screen, the actor's real life has seen its own twists, including a broken engagement with doctor Hala Somroo in 2019 before he married actress Mahin Siddiqui in December 2024.

Speaking to Haroon Rashid on BBC Asian Network, Munawar revealed that Abu Bakr is not as flawless as fans believe. He pointed out major flaws in his character, such as a constant need to please others, difficulty saying "no," and a "savior complex" instilled by his upbringing.

Munawar also shared that Abu Bakr had fallen in love with the female lead, Zaryab, long before it became apparent in the story. He noted that he deliberately planted subtle hints throughout the series to show how deeply the character cared for her from the beginning.
