State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam has urged Chinese companies to increase investment in Bangladesh's infrastructure, water supply, sewerage, roads and bridges.
He made the call during a meeting with a delegation led by China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) Chairman Dai Hezheng at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday (November 4).
The minister invited Chinese companies to invest through public-private partnerships (PPPs) or direct financing, highlighting opportunities in waste management, water supply and transport infrastructure.
He said the government's vision of transforming rural areas into urban centres could benefit from CRCC's advanced technology and experience, assuring full government support for investment projects.
Dai Hezheng said CRCC currently has 24 ongoing projects worth $1.36 billion in Bangladesh. The company has also expressed interest in renewable energy, waste-to-energy, solar power and safe drinking water projects.
