The High Court will deliver its order on November 11 on a writ petition filed by former interim government adviser and NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, challenging the legality of the Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) press briefings on corruption allegations against him.
A bench led by Justice Md Bashir Ullah fixed the date on Wednesday (November 4) after concluding the hearing.
Barrister Md Yusuf Ali and Advocate Zahirul Islam Musa represented Asif Mahmud.
In September, Asif filed the writ challenging the ACC’s statements that it had found preliminary evidence of corruption and irregularities at the initial stage of its investigation.
The petition seeks to declare the ACC's press briefings on September 2 and 13 illegal and direct the commission to refrain from making public statements on matters under investigation. It also seeks formal retractions of the statements.
Asif claimed the allegations, involving recruitment, transfers, promotions and public project tenders, were baseless. He argued that some of the cited decisions took place months after his resignation on December 11, 2025.
The writ further alleges that the briefings were politically motivated and intended to damage his reputation after he announced his candidacy for the Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral election.
