Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is set to share screen space with young actress Sreeleela, who is nearly five decades his junior, in the upcoming film Dharman, production houses have officially announced.
Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the project marks the first collaboration between the veteran actor and the filmmaker, as well as the debut on-screen pairing of Rajinikanth and Sreeleela. The production banner confirmed the casting by releasing a welcome video on social media.
Alongside Rajinikanth and Sreeleela, the film features a star-studded ensemble cast including Simran, Nayanthara, Yogi Babu, and Raashii Khanna.
While initial promotional teasers have sparked high anticipation regarding Rajinikanth's role, early indications suggest he may portray a physician. However, makers have described his character using the phrase "Ketta Paiyan"—meaning "bad boy"—hinting at potential anti-hero or negative undertones.
Sreeleela continues to expand her footprint in South Indian cinema. Following her Tamil film debut earlier this year in Parasakthi, she has secured roles in several high-profile projects, including starring alongside Dhanush as his wife, Roja, in the upcoming film Om, and joining Ajith Kumar's Daredevil.
Music for Dharman will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, marking his continued partnership with Rajinikanth following previous collaborations on Petta, Darbar, Jailer, Vettaiyan, and Coolie.
While an official release date has not yet been announced, makers are reportedly eyeing an April 2027 theatrical release.
