'Partner Field School', an innovative educational initiative in Baniyakandor village under Paglakanai union of Jhenaidah, is transforming local agriculture by using open fields as classrooms for marginal male and female farmers.
Unlike traditional educational institutions, this school operates without four walls or conventional student crowds. Carrying notebooks and pens, farmers of varying ages—ranging from lifelong agriculturalists to newcomers—gather to acquire new knowledge on nutrition development, entrepreneurship, and eco-friendly farming techniques.
During sessions, participants pay close attention to instructors, take notes, and draw upon their own practical experiences to answer questions posed by agricultural officers. The interactive curriculum allows for immediate feedback, rectifying mistakes, and building confidence as modern techniques are integrated into familiar practices.
The curriculum extends beyond basic crop production to focus on nutritional improvement, safe food generation, environmental conservation, and developing agricultural enterprise opportunities. Instructors guide participants on maximizing yields through cost-effective, scientific methods, offering fresh hope to the farming community.
Many participants are already applying their newly acquired knowledge to daily life. Several female farmers have established home vegetable gardens, meeting their families' nutritional needs while yielding surplus produce. Meanwhile, male farmers report achieving higher yields at lower production costs by following modern scientific methods.
By complementing fertile soil and quality seeds with technical skills, knowledge, and awareness, the initiative is creating new horizons for agricultural development in the region.
