A total of 300 candidates have been initially shortlisted through an electronic lottery for recruitment at DHL Supply Chain Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. under a zero-migration-cost employment initiative, aimed at ensuring transparent and fair selection of Bangladeshi workers.
The lottery was conducted electronically based on online applications received between November 6 and 4:00pm on November 8. A total of 4,029 candidates applied within the stipulated period.
Of the 300 shortlisted candidates, 200 were selected for the Operations Assistant position and 100 for Technical Skilled Worker positions. Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL) published the list of selected candidates on its official website and Facebook page.
The lottery was conducted on Sunday at the Probashi Kallyan Bhaban in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, BOESL officials and journalists from print and electronic media.
The shortlisted candidates will subsequently undergo practical and oral examinations conducted directly by representatives of the recruiting company. Following the selection process, 112 candidates will be finally recruited and sent to Malaysia without bearing any migration costs.
Speaking at the programme, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry’s Acting Secretary Ahmadul Haque said the initiative would contribute to fulfilling the government's electoral commitment to sending one crore workers abroad over the next five years. It also reflected government's commitment to implementing the Expatriates' Welfare Minister's promise of sending workers overseas at zero cost.
BOESL Managing Director Mohammad Rashedul Haque said this was the first time the government had introduced a lottery-based system to select qualified and skilled workers for overseas employment in Malaysia. "Through this initiative, we want to send a clear message that BOESL always works with transparency and impartiality," he said.
Responding to journalists' questions, Rashedul Haque said flights carrying the recruited workers were expected to begin in the first week of December.
He also disclosed that BOESL received additional recruitment demands for 558 workers in the tourism, manufacturing and caregiving sectors. These workers would also have the opportunity to migrate to Malaysia at zero cost, with employers bearing all expenses, including medical examination fees and airfares.
Director General of the Wage Earners' Welfare Board Md Asaduzzaman and Joint Secretary of the ministry Nurun Nahar, among others, attended the programme.
