LGED to spend Tk 150cr for rural dev in M'bazar

MOULVIBAZAR, June 17: Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) here has planned to implement different projects worth Tk 150 core in current fiscal year to develop the rural infrastructure across the district.
Nakul Kumar Das, chairman of No. 1 Fatepur union under Rajnagar upazila which is located in Kawadighi haor belt, said, "Facilitating transportation and marketing of agricultural products, declining of transport cost and time of carrying of products, creation of promoting employment of the unemployed, development of life-standard of rural people as well as social and economic condition of rural people etc are depended on the effective process of development of the rural habitat infrastructure. LGED in this respect can play a pioneer role."  
LGED, Moulvibazar office sources, said, they have taken plan to implement different projects worth Tk 150 core in 2016-17 fiscal year that include making of rural pucca roads, bridges and culverts, establishment of different Muktijoddha Complex buildings and various reformative woks of roads, bridges and culverts.
Besides, the Moulvibazar LGED authority, during earlier eight years, has spent about Tk 808 core to implement different projects to develop rural infrastructure in the district, the source claimed.
The source also said, the Moulvibazar LGED authority during the said eight years built up 663 kilometres pucca roads, 989 metres bridges and culverts, 180 government primary school buildings, 11 union parishad buildings, 13 rural haats and bazars and growth-centres, 22 houses for freedom fighters and ran huge reformation work on roads, bridges and culverts.
Md Kamrul Islam, executive engineer of Moulvibazar LGED, said that they have planned to implement different projects worth Tk 150 cores in 2016-17 fiscal year.
He also said, in line with the development process of the present government, LGED authority here is working ceaselessly to make an internal road network throughout the district.
