Amid concern of militant links RAB trailing 70 persons

The whereabouts of 70 persons, who went missing in the country, are still unknown.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) published a list of 70 missing people and intensified search amid concern of links of some of them to militant groups.
Investigators suspected that the missing persons have militant connection. The five gunmen who attacked an upscale cafe in Dhaka on July 1 in 2016 and killed 20 hostages, including foreigners, had been missing for several months.
In the list of 70 missing people, the RAB published photographs of only 68, including three women, whom the elite force suspects to be in Turkey currently. Several young people in the list belong to high profile families and the RAB suspects them to be hardcore militants. The RAB also said that the revision of the missing list was an ongoing process.
The elite force also requested people to notify RAB immediately if anyone from the list of 68 people returns to their respective families.
In the updated list, five new names have been added and their missing periods are between four months and 12 years. The address of one of them is Mosul city in Iraq.
Those who have been added to the updated list of missing youths are Shahidul Alam, 35, Jibon, 27, Hossain Ahmed, 32, Emdadul Huq, 30 and Sheikh Iftisham Ahmed Sami, 22.
Authorities released two separate lists after finding out that the terrorists from both Gulshan and Sholakia attacks had disappeared from home. The first list named ten individuals and the second had seven more.
Then RAB produced a list of 261 missing persons on July 20 last year  But many from that list were traced after media inquiries. Some were employed, some at home and one was found in jail.
The RAB on July 5 updated the list and reduced the number to 68 persons. The current list stands at 70 after three names were omitted and five more added.
The new list was also updated with five new missing persons, who are Shahidul Alam, 35, from Chittagong, a madrasa student, Jiban, 27, from Nilphamari, Hossain Ahmed, 32, from Sylhet, possibly in Musul, Iraq, Emdadul Haque, 30, from Pabna and Rajshahi University 3rd-year student of English Sheikh Eftesam Ahmed Sami, 22, from Rangpur.
The government had been gathering information on youths reported missing for some time, as investigations revealed a trend of such youths joining militant groups.
One of the Sholakia attackers, who was shot dead by police during the June 7 attack, had also been missing for the past four months.
