‘Govt to remain beside the poor during emergencies’

GAIBANDHA, Jam 16: Newly elected MP (Gaibandha-4) Abul Kalam Azad on Monday noon said, Sheikh Hasinas government will remain beside people during any emergency situation.  

"As you have kept faith and trust on Awami League (AL) government and cast your vote for Boat to help AL form government for fourth consecutive time under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ignoring all sorts of fear and conspiracy, Sheikh Hasinas government will remain beside the poor people to mitigate their sufferings caused by cold wave", he said while addressing a function on blanket distribution on the ground of Gobindaganj High School in  Gobindaganj Upazila as the chief guest.

Upazila Disaster Management Committee arranged the function presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Russel Miah.

Abul Kalam Azad, MP, distributed 2,000 pieces of blankets among cold-affected people in the upazila town and its surrounding areas.

He termed the Sheikh Hasinas government as poor people-friendly and said the blanket distribution activity will continue until the cold wave disappears.

Gobindaganj Municipality Mayor Muketur Rahman Rafi, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md Zinder Ali, political leaders, and journalists were present at the distribution function.
