Man fined Tk 1.5 lakh for illegal hill cutting 

DIGHINALA, KHAGRACHHARI, Dec 30: A mobile court on Sunday fined a landowner Tk 1.5 lakh for illegally cutting hills violating environmental laws in Dighinala Upazila of the district.  

The mobile court led by Dighinala Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid conducted a drive in Ward No. 8 Sudhir Member Para area under Boalkhali Union, and fined Bishnu Chakraborty Tk 1.5 lakh under Section 15 of the Sand and Soil Management Act, 2010.  In default of the payment, Bishnu has to suffer one month in jail.

UNO Md Mamunur Rashid confirmed the matter, adding that such drives will continue in the upazila.
