The last phase of the 6th Upazila Parishad (UZ) elections across the country were held peacefully on Sunday. Vote casting continued from 8am to 4pm.
BAGERHAT: In the last phase, elections to three upazilas of the district, Morrelganj, Mongla, and Sharankhola, were held on Sunday.
Md Liakat Ali Khan (Pineapple), vice-president of Upazila Awami League (AL), has been elected chairman of Morrelganj Upazila, securing 38,399 votes while his nearest candidate Md Mozammel Haq Mozam (Inkpot-Pen) got 26,729 votes.
The voting was held through 111 polling centres.
Juba League (JL) Leader Rasel Hawladar has been elected vice-chairman while Azmin Nahar has been elected woman vice-chairman.
Mongla Upazila AL Vice-President Abu Taher Hawladar (Shrimp) has elected chairman for the third of Mongla Upazila, securing 27,902 votes while his nearest candidate and JL Leader Md Iqbal Hossain (Pineapple) got 18,417 voters.
Voting was held through 48 polling centres with total 1,20,465 votes.
Md Jamal Hossain has been elected vice-chairman while Kamrun Nahar has been elected woman vice-chairman.
Upazila AL Vice-Chairman Rayhan Uddin Akon Shanta (Pineapple) has been elected chairman again of Sharonkhola Upazila, securing 30,192 votes while his nearest candidate Asaduzzaman Milon (Inkpot-Pen) got 18,815 votes.
Voting was held through 34 polling centres with 1,00,754 voters.
Mohammad Hasanuzzaman Parvez has been elected vice-chairman while Rahima Aktar Hasi has been elected woman vice-chairman.
KHULNA: Ananda Mohon Biswas, G M Mohsin Reza and Ezaz Ahmed were elected chairmen unofficially for Paiggachha, Koyra and Dumuria upazilas respectively in the elections held on Sunday.
The results were announced unofficially in the Khulna District Administration conference room on Sunday night.
Ananda Mohon Biswas got 33.466 votes while his nearest candidate Sheikh Kamrul Hasan Tipu got 30,917 votes.
S M Abdul Wahab Bablu was elected vice chairman Anita Rani Mondal was elected the female vice chairman.
G M Mohsin Reza bagged 3,917 votes while his nearest candidate S M Shafiqul Alam got 27,323 votes.
Adv Mehedi Hasan has been elected vice-chairman and Nasima Alam has been woman vice-chairman.
In Dumuria Upazila, Ezaz Ahmed has been elected chairman of Dumuria Upazila, getting 70,519 votes while his nearest candidate Muminur Rahman Nayan got 39,415 votes.
Gobina Ghosh has been elected vice-chairman and Sharmin Parveen Ruma has been elected woman vice-chairman.
BHOLA: Elections to two upazilas, Lalmohan and Tazumuddin upazilas of the district were suspended in the 3rd phase. On Sunday the elections to these upazilas were held.
Former joint general secretary (GS) of Upazila BNP Akhtaruzzaman Titob has been elected chairman of Lalmohan Upazila, securing 25,339 votes while his nearest candidate (Martin) and Upazila AL Vice-President Aktar Hossain got 24,567 votes.
Tazumuddin Upazila AL GS Fazlul Haq Dewan has been elected chairman of the upazila, securing 24,231 votes while his nearest candidate and current upazila chairman Mosharraf Hossain (Inkpot-pen) got 21,517 votes.
JHALAKATHI: Suspended elections to Rajapur and Kanthalia upazilas of the district due to Cyclone Remal impact were held on Sunday.
Returning Officer and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Md Ruhul Amin announced the election results at night.
Milon Mahmud Bachchu (Motor Cycle) has been elected chairman of Rajapur Upazila, securing 21,050 votes while his nearest candidate Afroza Aktar Laizu (Inkpot-Pen) has got 16,820 votes.
Emdadul Haq Monir has been elected chairman of Kanthalia Upazila, securing 20,375 votes while his nearest candidate Golam Kibria Sikdar (Cup-Saucer) got 12,681 votes.
Abdullah Al Hasan Bappi has been vice-chairman while Nasrin Aktar has been elected vice-chairman of Rajapur Upazila.
Mohammad Abdul Jalil Miazi has been elected vice-chairman while Sahida Aktar Bindu has been elected woman vice-chairman of Kanthalia Upazila.
BARISHAL: In the 3rd phase, elections to two upazilas, Agailjhara and Gouranadi, suspended due to Cyclone Remal, were held on Sunday.
Jatindra Nath Mistri (Inkpot-Pen) has been elected chairman of Agailjhara Upazila of the district, securing 26,758 votes while his nearest candidate and Upazila AL Vice-President and former chairman Abdur Raich Serniabat got 25,869 votes.
This information was confirmed by Upazila Election Commissioner Basudeb Sarkar.
Sanjoy Baroi has been elected vice-chairman, getting 21,255 votes while Hafiza Yasmin has been elected woman vice-chairman, getting 21,470 votes.
Voting casting was 40.18 per cent or 53,890 votes out of total 1, 34,133 votes. The legal votes were 52,627.
Monir Hossain Mia has been elected chairman of Gouranadi Upazila, securing 40,443 votes while his nearest candidate Upazila AL GS Harisur Rahman got 36,924 votes.
Md Farhad Hossain has been elected vice-chairman, getting 48,404 votes while his nearest candidate Md Jamal Gomasta got 28,314 votes.
Sahida Aktar has been elected woman vice-chairman, bagging 30,613 votes while her nearest candidate Irin Aktar got 21,864 votes.
Vote casting was 45.33 per cent or 79,310 votes out of total 1, 74,961 votes. The legal votes were 76,264.
PATUAKHALI: Khan Md Abu Bakar Siddiqi (Cup-Saucer) has been elected chairman, for the third time, of Mirzaganj Upazila of the district, securing 24,850 votes while his nearest candidate Jahirul Islam Jewel Sikdar (Horse) got 20,892 votes.
The election result was announced by Assistant Returning Officer and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Tarikul Islam.
Voting was held through 43 polling centres.
Gazi Omar Faruq Shaon (Mike) has been elected vice-chsirman, getting 16,125 votes while his nearest candidate Md Saiful Islam Sohag Mridha (Helicopter) got 15,685 votes.
Bagging 27,695 votes Hasina Begum (Duck) has been elected woman vice-chairman for the third time while her nearest candidate Aysha Siddiqa (Jar) got 17,912 votes.
PIROJPUR: The election to Mathbaria Upazila of the district was held on Sunday.
Independent Candidate (Inkpot-Pen) Advocate Md Bayzid Hossain Khan has been elected chairman of the upazila, securing 53,765 votes while his nearest candidate and running Chairman Md Reaz Uddin Ahmed (Pineapple) got 50,329 votes.
Md Arifur Rahman Sifat (Tubewell) has been vice-chairman, getting 48,701 votes while his nearest candidate Md Siddiqur Rahman (Cup-Saucer) got 36,151 votes.
Taherun Nesa Nasima (Jar) has been elected vice-chairman, bagging 48,334 votes while her nearest candidate Sanjida Akter (Butterfly) got 45,045 votes.
