KHULNA, Aug 19: Hundreds of students gathered at the administrative building of Khulna University (KU) on Sunday afternoon requesting Vice-Chancellor (VC) not to submit his resignation.
They came to know VC Prof Dr Mahmud Hossain will submit his resignation letter to the University Chancellor.
Agitating students went on movement through chanting various slogans in favour of the KU-VC and gathered in front of the administrating building.
This was confirmed by Joynal Farazi, public relations officer of KU Mass Media and Publication Division in the evening.
KU students said, "We do not want resignation of KU-VC as he was besides the students during anti-discrimination students movement in Khulna."
Zohurul Tanvir, a student of statistics of KU and one of the co-ordinators of anti-discrimination students movement said, the KU-VC took stand beside students during the movement and saved students when policemen swooped down upon them.
"The VC will continue his job as he has done earlier. Students will face together if anybody gives him pressure to resign," he added.
He also urged the University Chancellor to look after the mater, adding, KU students must face unitedly and resist any conspiracy for his resignation.
At one stage, KU-VC assured students he will take some time about his resignation, saying it's great recognition to him from students.
