Principal resigns under pressure, suffers stroke

NAOGAON, Aug 31: Principal Nurul Islam of Hapania High School and College in Naogaon is fighting for his life following his resignation under pressure from students and outsiders.

A video of the incident, which shows him fainting on Aug 28, has been going viral on the internet.

Initially treated at a local hospital, Nurul's condition did not improve.

He was subsequently transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for two days and then referred to Dhaka for advanced medical care.

Doctors at the local hospital suspect that Nurul suffered a stroke.

Despite two days of treatment in Rajshahi, his condition worsened, and his family report no improvement.

Nurul's elder brother, Abu Naser Ahmed, told bdnews24.com: "He is not in a normal state. It is difficult to understand what he is saying as his speech is slurred."

The incident occurred following the fall of the Awami League government on Aug 5, which led to increased pressure on teachers across educational institutions to resign.
