New KU VC, Pro-VC, treasurer appointed

KHULNA, Oct 19:  Dr Md Rezaul Karim, a professor of the Department of Urban and Rural Planning Discipline at Khulna University (KU), who previously performed as in-charge of financial and administrative activities, has been appointed as the 13th vice-chancellor (VC) of the university.

Besides, Dr Md Harunur Rashid, a professor of the Department of Physics Discipline, and Dr Md Nurunnabi, a professor of the Department of the Business Administration Discipline, have also been appointed as Pro-VC and treasurer of KU respectively, according to a KU press release. 

This is the first time in the KU history that VC, Pro-VC and treasurer have been appointed from the same university teachers.
Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim has been appointed VC of KU for the four years. 

His tenure as VC will begin on the date he assumes the role, said an Education Ministry circular signed by Deputy Secretary Mossammat Rokhsana Begum on Thursday.

According to the circular, President Md Shahabuddin, also chancellor of the university, gave him the appointment following the 1990 order of the KU.

As the university's chief, he is required to reside on the university campus full-time. Additionally, the President and Chancellor reserves the right to revoke his appointment at any time if deemed necessary.

As the senior teacher of the Department of Urban and Rural Discipline, the new VC Prof Dr Md Rezaul Karim has performed various duties in academic and administrative sectors. 

He also performed duties as an in-charge of KU's financial and administration after the resignation of immediate past VC Prof Dr Mahmud Hasan. 

In a separate circular, Professor Dr Harunur Rashid has been appointed as the Pro-VC of the KU for four years. His tenure as PRO-VC will begin on the date he assumes the role, said the circular. 

He is also required to reside on the university campus full-time. Additionally, the President and Chancellor reserve the right to revoke his appointment at any time if deemed necessary.

In another circular, Professor Dr Md Nurunnabi has been appointed as the KU treasurer for the same period. His tenure as the treasurer will also begin on the date he assumes the role.
