Police arrested two extortionists from Bhaluka upazila in Mymendingh district on Tuesday morning.
The arrested individuals are Simanta, 30, son of Ilias, a resident of Nawmahal area under Mymensingh's Sadar upazila, and Shakib Hasan Rasel, 25, hailed from Kushtia district.
They were arrested from Medila Mor area in the upazila.
According to police sources, a group of extortionists stopped a car at around 3:00AM on Tuesday and attacked its driver with a knife. Later, police were informed via a phone call to 999. Follwoing this, the police conducted several drives and recovered the car from the Medila Mor area at around 5:30 AM. At that time, the police arrested the duo from the car.
Humayon Kabir, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station, confirmed the matter.
