Police have recovered an old artillery shell from a village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia district.

The shell was found on Thursday evening at the house of late Asmat Ullah, a retired senior warrant officer of the Bangladesh Army, in Daulatkhali village under the upazila headquarters.

After spotting it, villagers informed police, who also informed the local army camp. Later the shell was moved to a safe location.

Sources at the Daulatpur army camp said the bomb disposal unit has been notified to defuse the shell safely.

Daulatpur Police Station Officer-in-charge Arifur Rahman said the shell is currently under army custody.
