Police recovered the hanging body of a newlywed housewife from her in-laws’ house in Pekua Upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday afternoon.
Deceased Kajal Rekha, 19, was the daughter of Jashim Uddin of Uttar Goakhali Village under Pekua Municipality.
It was known that Kajal Rekha got married to one Raju Islam Rana of Murapara area under Pekua Sadar Union on 31 January this year. The couple had often been locked into family disputes since the marriage. As a sequel to it, Kajal Rekha had returned to her parents’ house 15 days back. On Friday afternoon, she again went to her in-laws’ house.
Later on, her body was found hanging from the ceiling of a room at around 3 pm on Saturday.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Kajal Rekha’s husband claimed that she committed suicide.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s family members alleged that Kajal Rekha was murdered by her husband and his family in a planned way.
Officer-in-Charge of Pekua Police Station Mohammad Mehedi Hasan confirmed the incident, adding that the actual reason behind the death would be known after getting the autopsy report.
