Approximately 65 percent of voter turnout has been recorded in Jagannath University Central Student Union (JnUCSU) election while the hall student union elections recorded around 77 percent.

Chief Election Commissioner Professor Zulfikar Mahmud shared the update at 6 PM on Tuesday while announcing commencement of vote counting.

Regarding the counting process, Election Commissioner Professor Shahidul Islam informed the media that votes will initially be manually screened.

"Any ballot containing marks other than a cross will be considered invalid for that particular post," he said.

Earlier, the voting had begun at 9 AM and continued until 3 PM.

However, in several departments, including Economics and Islamic Studies, long lines of voters were observed even after the scheduled closing time and these voters were allowed to cast their votes.

After voting ended, ballot boxes from all centers were brought to the central control room at the university auditorium.

The counting process will be displayed live on LED screens at various locations within the university.

This election was held across 39 centers with 178 booths, where a total of 16,649 voters were registered.

Results are expected to be announced tonight following counting using OMR machine.
