Reenat Fauzia selected DU senate member

Reenat Fauzia, a professor of Government College of Applied Human Sciences (formerly Home Economics College), has been selected as a senate member of the University of Dhaka by the Academic Council. 

The council published an order in this regard on June 2, 2026, as per the Article 20(1)(i) of Dhaka University Order, 1973. 

The 14th BCS education cadre, Fauzia, is the granddaughter of the renowned music composer of the subcontinent, Ustad Ayat Ali Khan, and the daughter of prominent music researcher and former Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Mobarak Hossain Khan, and prominent vocalist Fauzia Khan.

Fauzia herself is a renowned Sitar player, lyricist and composer. 
She received Rotary Award and was selected for the ‘Group Exchange Programme’ and traveled to Texas in 1996. 

In 2005, Fauzia visited various states of the United States as a Sitar player as part of ‘International Visitor Programme’ at the invitation of the country’s government.  

She gained fame by playing the Sitar as a representative of Bangladesh at the Bengal Music Festival in 2013. 
Fauzia earned an MPhil degree in music from Dhaka University, and published several books on music and domestic economics.
