Academic activities at primary, secondary and higher secondary educational institutions across the country resumed on Sunday following a 16-day closure for Eid-ul-Azha.

With the reopening, millions of students returned to classrooms, restoring normal academic routines and bringing renewed activity to schools, colleges and madrasas nationwide.

According to directives from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, regular classes resumed in most institutions from the day. Authorities had instructed institutions to ensure classroom cleanliness, prepare lesson plans and take necessary steps to secure student attendance.

Education stakeholders said coordinated efforts from teachers and guardians are essential to help students readjust to academic routines after a long break, noting that it may take a few days for students to regain full focus on studies, urging teachers to adopt a patient and supportive approach during the transition period.

Heads of several institutions said they expect students to return with renewed energy, adding that extracurricular activities will also be arranged to help them adjust both academically and mentally.

Officials from the education ministry said academic activities will continue in line with the annual calendar, with special focus on improving learning outcomes and ensuring timely completion of the syllabus.

With schools reopening, traffic congestion is also expected to increase in major cities, including Dhaka, as students, teachers and guardians return to regular commuting schedules.
