NARAYANGANJ, Jan 15: Monir Hossain Khasemi, the BNP alliance-nominated candidate for Narayanganj-4 (Fatullah) constituency, has called upon the administration to ensure a fair, impartial and violence-free election.
Speaking at a press conference at the Narayanganj Press Club on Wednesday afternoon, the Joint Secretary General and District President of Jamiat Ulemaye Islam stated that the election must provide equal opportunities or a level playing field for everyone.
He expressed concern over the influence of illegal weapons, terrorist activities and black money. He said the administration could bring these under control in a very short time if it desired.
He urged the administration to maintain strict vigilance to ensure the election is not turned into a contest of money. He also emphasised that no innocent person should be harassed in the name of arresting terrorists.
He was accompanied at the press conference by leaders from the BNP and allied organisations. Among them were Fatullah Thana BNP President Shahidul Islam Titu, Secretary Advocate Abdul Bari Bhuiyan and Organising Secretary Riyad Mohammad Chowdhury.
