The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of United International University (UIU) successfully organized a training program titled “Designing Events with Purpose: A Guide to SDG Integration” at the UIU campus on Saturday.

The program was chaired by Dr. Mofijul Hoq Masum, Associate Professor, School of Business & Economics (SoBE), UIU and Director, IQAC, UIU.

The training session was facilitated by Mr. Jakowan, Assistant Professor, SoBE, UIU and Deputy Director, IQAC, UIU, who served as the resource person for the program.

During the training, participants gained insights into the significance of SDGs in higher education, particularly their relevance to institutional development, global rankings, and international visibility.

The session emphasized how systematic SDG alignment contributes to quality assurance, sustainability reporting, and global benchmarking frameworks.

The training was attended by around 50 participants representing all 17 academic and administrative departments of the university. The objective of the session was to enhance participants’ understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to demonstrate practical ways of aligning SDGs with various institutional events, programs, and initiatives conducted at UIU.

Participants were also guided through a structured process for mapping relevant SDGs with different types of university activities, including academic events, co-curricular programs, research initiatives, community engagement, and administrative practices.

Practical examples and interactive discussions helped participants understand how SDG integration can be embedded meaningfully into routine institutional operations.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Ummay Sumaiya Mutiatur Rasul, Head of Communications and Deputy Director, IQAC, UIU, acknowledging the contributions of the speakers, organizers, and participants. At the end of the session, certificates were awarded to all participants in recognition of their successful participation in the training program.

The training concluded on a positive note, reflecting participants’ strong interest in adopting SDG-aligned practices across departments. The program reaffirmed UIU’s commitment to sustainability, quality education, and global responsibility in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
